Preseason Player Volleyball Awards (A-L)

Preseason Volleyball Player Awards in each Conference 


Preseason player volleyball awards for the NCAA Divison I volleyball conferences are announced every year during the first two weeks of the  month of August.

Each conference announces the results of their preseason coaches poll, a ranking based on who each coach votes for will finish first at the end of the regular season.

Most conferences require their head coaches and sports information directors to also vote on a preseason "All conference team." 

These are individual player volleyball award recipients voted on as recognition for being the best in their conference. 

Preseason player award categories include:

  • Preseason Player of the Year
  • Preseason Freshman Player of the Year
  • Preseason All Conference Team

The preseason All Conference team usually consists of 12 - 14 volleyball players, depending on the conference, voted on by the head coaches of each team in that conference. 

Some conferences, like Southland Conference have more player recognition awards named because they have a first team and a second Preseason All Conference team.

Preseason Player Volleyball Awards: Atlantic Sun Conference


  • Lipscomb's Carlyle Nusbaum was voted the ASUN Preseason Player of the Year after a stellar 2016 season in which she won Player of the Year and Tournament MVP honors.
  • Kennesaw State's senior libero Katarina Morton was voted the Preseason Defensive Player of the Year for the third-straight season.
  • Maggie Rick of FGCU rounded out the superlative honors taking home the Preseason Setter of the Year award.
